Leadership Transition in Animal Health at Probiotech International Inc.

November 19, 2025

Saint-Hyacinthe, November 19, 2025 — After a remarkable career spanning more than three decades as a practicing shareholder at Ormstown Veterinary Hospital, followed by his role within Probiotech’s Animal Health team since August 2021, Dr. Jean-François Lanthier, DVM, is beginning a well-deserved retirement. He now turns his attention to other passions, including spending more time as a proud grandfather with his grandchildren.

A passion for innovation

“Throughout my career, I have always been fascinated and motivated by innovations that improve animal health and welfare. I am particularly proud to have led the development of Probiotech’s veterinary division alongside Ivan Girard, Bertrand Medina, and Karina Betit. I thank them for their open-mindedness, trust, and team spirit. Together, we have broken new ground with promising opportunities for livestock producers in Québec, across Canada, and internationally,” said Dr. Lanthier.

A strong succession

Dr. Danielle Fournier-Lévesque, DVM, will take over the role. Originally from Québec’s North Shore, she grew up around horses, which sparked her early interest in animal care. A graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV) in 2005, she began her career at the Clinique Vétérinaire de Coaticook, where she combined her interests in both bovine and equine medicine.

Issues related to calf rearing as well as cow housing and comfort are particularly important to her. In order to address specific questions, she has incorporated clinical research projects—primarily focused on calves—into her practice. Since 2013, she has completed numerous training programs on dairy calf management and has delivered several conferences for producers, industry professionals, and veterinarians.

Equine practice now also occupies a significant part of her time, with lameness and reproductive management among her main areas of focus.

“It is with a great deal of humility that I aim to continue Jean-François’s excellent work with veterinarians and livestock producers committed to animal health and welfare, while balancing this new challenge with my current practice,” said Dr. Fournier-Lévesque.

Thank you Jean-François, welcome Danielle

“Jean-François, thank you for your invaluable collaboration over the past few years. Your contribution has helped us spread our wings, and the entire Probiotech family wishes you a retirement that matches your greatest ambitions. Danielle, welcome to the team. The challenges ahead are many, and we are confident that your expertise, energy, and determination will help us reach new heights,” concluded Ivan Girard, Ph.D., President and Chief Innovation Officer.
